There are many options for Parking and Transportation in downtown Traverse, we will address the 3 most common parking arrangements available here. Click the links above to look further below on this page for more detailed information on parking and transportation.- (Recommended) You may park in covered parking at the City Larry C. Hardy Parking Deck 303 East State Street or the Old Town Parking Deck 125 E Eighth Street. Safely park it and forget it!
- You may park in the streets metered (time limits may apply) or non metered parking for all day parking other than from the hours of 3am to 6am.
- You may park in some city parking lots that allow free overnight parking 9check to see which lots apply), but they are metered for long term parking during the day from 8am-6pm Note: lots are not metered on the weekend from 6pm Friday night to 8am Monday morning, Full time parking permits are also available.
Parking Downtown is Easy!
Whatever your downtown destination, a parking space is readily available. One and two hour meters are located close to retail establishments, most with a free 30 minutes for those quick trips! City parking lots are marked with bright blue and white signs.
A number of public lots are available around the city. You will find
public lots behind the businesses on Front Street downtown. Larger lots
are on the north side, between Grandview Parkway and Front Street. Smaller
lots are found along the alleys south of Front Street, between Front
and State Streets. There are also parallel public parking spaces along
most of the streets downtown.
The Larry C. Hardy Parking Deck:
This deck is located between Front and State Streets and offers 540 parking spaces. Enter by following the large signs between Park and Boardman on Front Street (adjacent to the WTCM Radio Center) or State Street (adjacent to the Park Place Hotel)

24-7.
Upper Floors are available to the Public seven days a week: 7:00AM -

Do you have an electric vehicle? Will you need to recharge when out
and about? The Old Town Parking Deck is proud to offer several state
of the art vehicle charging stations conveniently located throughout
the parking structure. These charging stations are located on the first,
second, and third floors. Contact Traverse City Parking Services for
information regarding cost.
Bike Lockers Available for Rent at the Hardy and Old Town Parking Decks
Whether you live Downtown and need a safe place to store your bike, or you can't find the extra room in your garage, our bike lockers are a great solution to add protection from both the unpredictable Northern Michigan weather and theft. City of Traverse City Parking Ordinances
Overnight Parking
(1) From November 16 through the following April 14, vehicles found
parked on any street or alley between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00
a.m. may be towed at the owner's expense.
(2) From April 15 through November 15, overnight parking between the
hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. is allowed on Saturday, Sunday and
Monday mornings only on any street where parking is otherwise allowed
You will find many bike racks ready and waiting for you in downtown Traverse City and throughout the Open Space, the heart of activities and events during the year. The BATA Cherriot Public Transportation:
Avoid parking altogether by utilizing Traverse City's public transportation,
the BATA Cherriot
shuttle bus system. The BATA Cherriot is a scheduled, fixed-route bus
service that offers predictable, affordable transportation throughout
Traverse City. Five routes operate on half-hourly runs weekdays, and
hourly on Saturdays, beginning at 6:10 a.m.
Full fares are $1.00, senior citizens and persons with disabilities
pay $0.50. Cherriots are equipped with wheelchair lifts and kneeling
passenger entries, which lower the steps for boarding. Cherriots also

The CityRide provides intown curb-to-curb service for people who
are unable to use the Cherriot due to disability or lack of accessibiliy

The CountyRide provides weekday transportation throughout rural Grand
Traverse and Leelanau counties. Call 231-941-2324 or 800-443-8989.
The HealthRide offers curb-to-curb transportation in wheelchair equipped
vans to hospitals and medical appointments. Call 231-941-2386 or 888-228-7743.
The Summer FunRide provides fixed-route services between the Leelanau
villages of Northport, Suttons Bay and Leland from late June through
Labor Day.

If your traveling by boat or bringing one you can enjoy the new and
improved Duncan L. Clinch marina at the Open Space just two block away.
Visitors can enjoy the new 500-foot walking pier for the public off
the northeast corner of the city's Open Space, 66 transient boat slips
and 64 seasonal slips, plus room for up to 30 additional craft to tie
up to the two breakwalls.
